Bookmobiles on Stamps

I have identified seven stamps that depict bookmobiles. To see a tribute to bookmobiles click here. Mary Titcomb would have been proud.

Barbados issued this stamp in 1972 as part of International Book Year. Its Scott Catalog number is 376.

 

 

 

 

 

Barbados issued another stamp depicting a bookmobile in 1997 as part of a set celebrating the 150th anniversary of the public library.  Its Scott Catalog number is 943.

 

 

 

 

 

Kenya issued a stamp depicting a bookmobile in 1984 when the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) held its conference there. Its Scott Catalog number is 304.

 

 

 

 

St. Vincent and the Grenadines issued this stamp in 1994 to celebrate 100 years of library service.  Its Scott Catalog number is 2007.

 

 

 

 

Seychelles issued this stamp in 1982. Its Scott Catalog number is 491.

 

 

 

 

 

Suriname issued this stamp in 1986.  It is a semi-postal stamp which means that a portion of the sales price was contributed to a charity. Ten cents of this stamp was contributed to Children's Charities. Its Scott Catalog number is B 348.

 

 

 

 

The British Virgin Islands issued this stamp in 1993 as part of the Golden Jubilee of Secondary Education and Library Services. Its Scott Catalog number is 786.
